My Natural Pre & Post Dental Work Routine

Oral health is a big deal because it effects our system health. So if I ever need dental work done I prefer to see a biologic or holistic dentist as well as incorporate tools to help support my body through the process.

Can I be honest? I would rather be in 20 hours of labor with no pain medication than get dental work done for a hour. Going to the dentist is one of the most stressful things for me and definitely triggers some form of a trauma response. However these last couple of years I have been trying to make it a goal to get routine dental work done and really focus on holistic oral health and airway health. I have found a holistic dentist and make the 3 hour round trip to see her because it's worth it!

Dental procedures can be tough on the body, but with the right support, recovery can be faster, smoother, and less painful! Here’s my personal routine to help support my body before and after dental work — using natural remedies & targeted supplements. If you try any of them shoot me a message and let me know how they help you!

Before Dental Work:

Goal: Strengthen immune system, minimize anxiety, and prepare tissues for healing.

  • Vitamin C:
I use both Cymbiotika Liposomal Vitamin C and Nutribiotic Sodium Ascorbate powder to flood my system with antioxidants. Vitamin C is crucial for collagen formation and tissue repair, and it helps the body handle oxidative stress from dental procedures.

  • Gelsemium (Homeopathy):
Gelsemium is my go-to for managing the anxiety and nerves that pop up before dental visits. It's especially helpful for that feeling of dread or mental fatigue before appointments. Pop a couple pellets in the hours leading up to your appointment. I buy most of my homeopathy from Fullscript. My Fullscript link will take 20% off for you to!

After Dental Work:

Goal: Reduce inflammation, speed up healing, support detox pathways, and ease discomfort naturally.

  • Red Light Therapy:
Red light therapy is amazing for reducing inflammation, stimulating collagen production, and promoting cellular repair — all important after dental work. It can be helpful for pain to. I set mine on either the NIR setting or the combo setting. Near Infra Red (NIR) can penetrate deeper than just red light so it can be helpful for that deeper tissue healing post dental work. I use my Lumebox daily for all sort of things but definitely use it directly over my mouth after I get dental work. They gave me a link to share with my community for $260 off. It will automatically take the discount off at checkout when you use this link.

  • High-Dose Vitamin C:
I personally incorporate high-dose vitamin C after any dental procedures to keep inflammation low and speed up healing.

  • NAC (N-Acetylcysteine):
I take Seeking Health’s NAC to support detox pathways. NAC helps boost glutathione production, your body’s master antioxidant, which is essential for healing and clearing anesthesia or other substances used during dental work. You can grab my favorite NAC straight from Seeking Health's website here or through Fullscript. My Fullscript link will take 20% off for you or you can save 10% on Seeking Health's website with discount code "heidip10."

  • Mushroom Immunity Blend:
I take Perfect Supplements’ Mushroom Immunity, packed with organic reishi, chaga, maitake, shiitake, and cordyceps, to strengthen my immune system during recovery. It is such a great natural way to support your immune system from an organic whole food source. You can grab them here and save 10% with code "holisticheidi10."

  • Arnica (Homeopathy):
I use Arnica to minimize pain, bruising, and swelling naturally. It is a great natural tool to use to help with pain. I purchase my homeopathy through Fullscript.

  • Mother Nature Profen by Dr. Green Mom:
This natural alternative to ibuprofen helps soothe pain and inflammation without the side effects of traditional NSAIDs. I also love that it is safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding. You can grab it here and save 10% with code "holisticheidi10."

Final Thoughts:
Taking a proactive approach before and after dental work can make a huge difference in your comfort, recovery time, and overall experience. I’m so thankful to have natural options that support my body and help calm my nerves.

As always, check with your dentist or healthcare provider if you have questions or want to make sure something might be a good fit for you.
