As a Mama and a holistically minded Nurse who values natural, non-toxic living, I’m always on the lookout for baby products that align with my lifestyle — especially when it comes to reducing EMF exposure in my home. That’s why I was so excited to try the Bébé Baby Monitor, which is marketed as a low-EMF (or no-EMF) baby monitor. We had previously had the Owlet with my first two children but it had broken by the time we had our third baby and I wanted a lower EMF baby monitor this time as I had learned more about the risks of EMF over the years.
In this review, I’ll walk you through what makes this monitor different, why EMF exposure matters (especially for babies), and my honest thoughts after using it.
🧠 Why EMFs Matter for Moms and Babies
EMFs (electromagnetic fields) are emitted by devices like Wi-Fi routers, smartphones, and yes — most traditional baby monitors. While the science is still emerging, some studies have raised concerns about long-term exposure to EMFs, especially during critical stages of development. Many parents, like myself, prefer to err on the side of caution and limit EMF exposure where possible.
While research is still ongoing, here are a few studies for parents interested in learning more about EMF risk:
BioInitiative Report – Summary of EMF health concerns stated this in their findings:
"Overall, more than 1800 or so new studies report abnormal gene transcription (Section 5); genotoxicity and single-and double-strand DNA damage (Section 6); stress proteins because of the fractal RF-antenna like nature of DNA (Section 7); chromatin condensation and loss of DNA repair capacity in human stem cells (Sections 6 and 15); reduction in free-radical scavengers - particularly melatonin (Sections 5, 9, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17); neurotoxicity in humans and animals (Section 9), carcinogenicity in humans (Sections 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17); serious impacts on human and animal sperm morphology and function (Section 18); effects on offspring behavior (Section 18, 19 and 20); and effects on brain and cranial bone development in the offspring of animals that are exposed to cell phone radiation during pregnancy (Sections 5 and 18). This is only a snapshot of the evidence presented in the BioInitiative 2012 updated report."
National Cancer Institute stated this in their findings:
"The Working Group classified ELF-EMFs as “possibly carcinogenic to humans."
🍼 Bébé Baby Monitor Features
Here’s what I love about this monitor:
✅ Low to No EMF Radiation
It has 94% reduced EMF emissions than an average traditional baby monitor. The Bebecare Motion Digital Video Baby Monitor which is the one I use does not use WIFI so the baby isn't being constantly radiated by the Wi-Fi with the baby camera.
✅ Audio & Video Clarity
Despite being low-EMF, the sound and image quality are still surprisingly clear — especially during nap checks! You can move and adjust the camera from you monitor aka you can have your baby in the crib with the door shut and you can adjust the camera angle without being in there. You can also zoom in and out on the camera from the monitor.
✅ Two Way Talk & Temperature Monitor
There is a temperature display on the monitor so you can see the temperature in the room. As well as you can use the two way talk through the camera so you can talk through the monitor and the baby can hear it through the camera.
✅ Eco Mode
Some models include a sound-activated eco mode, which keeps the monitor on standby and only activates when baby makes noise — another way to reduce unnecessary radiation.
✅ Portable and Simple Setup
It was super easy to install and doesn’t require connecting to Wi-Fi (which is also a major security plus!). The monitor works for up to 800 feet away so you can move throughout the house and go outside and still keep tabs on your sweet baby as needed.
✅ Optional Smart Breathing Sensor Mat (Baby SIDS Monitor)
The sensor mat features three piezoelectric sensors in each board and will detect abnormal breathing patterns and sound an alarm if it detects a pause or irregularity in the baby’s breath. A loud audible alarm will sound on the wireless parent unit if baby breathing is not detected for 20 seconds. A "Hold" button is available when you want to lift up your baby for feeding, and want to temporarily disable the sensor. This is an "add on" product you can purchase with the monitor if you choose to. I did not end up ordering the mat however if I had a high risk baby or a baby that is frequently sick especially with upper respiratory infections or asthma I would definitely consider using this product to help monitor their breathing better.
👩👧👦 Real Mom Experience
As a mom of little ones, peace of mind is everything. I love that I can monitor my baby safely without stressing over constant EMF exposure. The Bébé Baby Monitor gave me the best of both worlds — function, safety and simplicity.
The range works perfectly within my home, and I appreciate that I don’t have to worry about hacking risks that come with Wi-Fi baby monitors.
🛒 Where to Buy
If you’re interested in checking it out, you can shop the Bébé Baby Monitor here. They did give me a 15% OFF code for my community with discount code: heidipetrusaitis
This is one of the few low-EMF baby monitors I’ve found when doing my research before I pulled the trigger and decided on the Bebe Baby Monitor.
Final Thoughts
If you’re a mom who’s passionate about wellness, toxin reduction, and safe sleep environments, this baby monitor is worth looking into. I’m so glad we made the switch — and I’d recommend it to any parent who wants the same peace of mind without the EMF worry. I personally don't use the monitor every day as our sweet baby still sleeps in our room but I'm so glad I have it for when I do feel like we need it, especially if he is sick.
